Last night over desserts, Jon, Shane, Tisha, Carrie, Ian, and I all thought our discussion and deconstruction of the movie "Brokeback Mountain" is worthy of television air play. Thats when Tisha chimed in reminding us all of her place of employment. She quickly rattled off all of the wonderful things Town Square Public Television had to offer. And seriously, if we don't take advantage of this awesome opportunity, we are fools. We could create a hilarious cable access show that wouldn't suck!! Training is involved to show us the ropes, and membership is only $25 for the whole year!!!!! How cool is that??? Ya never know it could turn out to be something big, MTV will discover us and we can all become the new TOM GREEN's of the world.
Jon and I watched this moive recently and I have to say I have never seen anything like it. Honestly. It's engrossing, aggravating, funny, and maddening. Sounds like a lot of fun huh? It is; seriously. If I were doing a dissertation on human relationships, I would pick this movie as my subject. It's unbelievable. Really.
As you may or may not know, I am OBSESSED with blogs. Particularly one named DOOCE. After the latest events in Louisiana, I knew she'd be interested in Oprah's recent visit/broadcast from the destruction. I emailed her this morning to see if she watched and she EMAILED me back!!! This is the Coolest Thing in the World since running into Cher on Melrose Avenue.
One evening while Jon was playing a round of mini-golf on the "Hot Shots Golf" video game, he finally coaxed me into learning how to play. I plopped down next to him as he handed me the controller explaining how each button functions. After two or three tries I started to pick it up. Five hole-in-ones and the high score later; I'd say I did pretty well for my first time. (We failed to take a screen shot of the scores; pre-digital camera)
Valentie's Day was Uber-romantic thanks to the Current. Jon and I spent the whole night listening to the radio. It was so rad guessing what songs they were going to pick and then listening to the stories they had as to why they were chosen. Extra depth was given to each song because of the context it was in. I would never have thought I would hear a John Denver song; but it was good. It fit. I hope they do this every year. I can't wait!
The songs that stood for me on Valentine's Day are:
Ballad for My One True Love Mason Jennings
Hallelujah Jeff Buckley
The Luckiest Ben Folds
At My Most Beautiful REM
Book of Love Magnetic Fields
Wonderwall Oasis
Destiny Zero 7
It was as if they had the cds Jon made for me on shuffle.
